Guest Designer for Case This Sketch 276

Hello Everyone!
I am super excited to be a Guest Designer for Case This Sketch this week. Since I was introduced to Case This Sketch I found a love with Clean and Simple Cards and helped me think outside my comfort zone. Clean and Simple has lots of negative space which draws the eyes immediately to the subject. Here is my take on this weeks challenge.

Case This Sketch #276

Finished card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" folded

  • Step 1 - Cut Sunflower Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". Score and fold in half to form a horizontal side-fold card base. Finished size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (A2)
  • Step 2 - Diecut Honeycomb using scrap cardstock. This will be used as a stencil. Trim Bristol Smooth Surface to 3 7/8" x 5 1/8". Place the Honeycomb diecut on top of the Bristol paper. Use painter's tape to hold the stencil in place. Color in the honeycomb with Zig Clean Color Real Brush (or any watercolor medium). I used Yellow 050 and Bright Yellow 052. I added a thin line using Bright Yellow, then blended a little of Yellow, then using a waterbrush to blend it upwards using little water. If you don't want to paint directly using the stencil you can use a pencil and lightly trace the honeycomb pattern and then watercolor. Just remember to erase the pencil lines when you are done. The watercolor must be completely dry before you erase.

  • Step 3 - Stamp Bees sentiment using Black Pigment Ink.
  • Step 4 - Trim Black Sot Finish Cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4". Adhere the Honeycomb background to the Black Cardstock using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Adhere the whole panel to the front of the card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.
  • Step 5 - Stamp Bugs & Butterflies using White Soft Finish Cardstock in Memento Black Ink. Color the bee using an Alcohol Marker. I used Winsor & Newton Promarker. Add Crystal Nuvo Drops Morning Dew to the Wings. Set aside to dry thoroughly before adhering to the card. I used foam tape (pop-ups) to add dimension.
  • Step 6 - Adhere sequins using Kid's Choice Glue. The glue goes on white but dries clear.
